From our farm to you
We are offering our products in our farm stand, at the Putney Farmers’ Market on Sunday afternoons, or for curbside pick up. We will ship non-perishables (maple syrup, wool, calendars) in the United States. You can order at our online shop. WOOLEN PRODUCTS
Yarn: Worsted Weight (65 yds to an ounce) Cheviot/Romney Blend, cleaned and spun at Green Mountain Spinnery in Putney Vermont.
Undyed Yarn
We have 4 undyed colors White, Gray, Brown and Chocolate. We generally sell it in 2 oz skeins (about 130 yards per skein) for $12. We can make larger skeins or sell it on cones as well.
Dyed Yarn – The Nuisance Weed Collection
While we are fighting back the invasives such as Buckthorn, Multi-Flora Rose, Goldenrod, we have been experimenting with dying our white yarn. Last fall we got beautiful yellows, greens and mauves and even some blue greens. They were a huge hit at the Putney Winter Farmers’ Market. We will be dying more in Fall 2024
- Undyed Natural Color 2 oz Skeins $12
- Hand Dyed 2 oz skeins from the Nuisance Weeds Collection $18
Woven Blankets: $240
Gorgeous 52″×72″ blankets made from our sheeps’ wool, spun by the Green Mountain Spinnery and woven in a variety of patterns by Bedfellows Blankets, of Shelburne Falls, MA.
Pelts:
We take our pelts to Vermont Natural Tannery in Manchester, VT, where they use natural products to turn out pelts into lovely sheepskins.
Because our sheep are a mix of predominantly Cheviot and Romney with a few other things occasionally mixed in, each pelt is unique! We have both white and natural colored pelts.
Pelts vary in price from $250 to $350, depending on the size and quality. We can ship you one but we think it is best to choose by visiting us at the farm (call 802-518-2155 or email farminfo@morsebrookfarm.com for an appointment so we can be sure to be around to show you all of them). Or stop by the Putney Farmers’ Market on Sundays to take a look at a small selection.
Sweaters: Prices vary
We are teaming up with Muriel’s of Vermont in Grand Isle, VT to make roll neck sweaters from our wool. These natural color brown heavy weight sweaters will keep you very warm in our cold Vermont winters. All of the wool is made from our fleeces and spun at Green Mountain Spinnery.
Raw Fleece Available
Interested on a fleece for your spinning project? We shear in late February and often have some lovely fleeces available.
MEAT BEEF AND LAMB
Beef – We have a wide variety of cuts from our Dexter Cattle.
Lamb – We are lucky to partner with local butchers to provide us with beautifully butchered and packaged frozen lamb. We have most cuts available throughout the year and we can make arrangements for special cuts and special occasions with a few month’s notice.
We offer individual cuts, 10 and 15 lb meat boxes (a variety pack which is 10-20% off the retail price), whole and half freezer lamb cut to your specifications and other special orders.
We also offer ground and stew mutton (from older sheep) at a very reasonable price of $6/lb. Mutton often has a slightly stronger gamier taste than our very mild but flavorful pasture raised lamb. Some people prefer it! And it tastes great in the many wonderful seasoned stews and recipes from around the world. We also use it in our sausages.
In partnership with Archway Farm of Keene, our butcher, we are also offering Sausage. The Merguez is a spicy, but not too spicy, flavorful sausage that is great on the grill. The Loukaninko is a greek flavor palate.
We endeavor to use the whole lamb so don’t hesitate to ask us about organ meat, tallow, bones or other unusual requests.
