Maple Sugar House Operator Job Available

Start Fall 2026 for 2027 Sugaring Season

Morse Brook Farm is a livestock farm in Westminster, VT, currently operating a 1300 tap southeast facing sugar bush with immediate expansion plans for an additional 200 taps and long term plans for expansion after 2027/28 selective logging. The sugar operation utilizes a vacuum pump, an RO and an oil fired arch housed in a 2021 built sugar house.  In the last two years, production has exceeded 900 gallons each season.

Job Description

We are looking for a person who has experience maintaining a sugar bush and a modern sugaring operation, who enjoys  hard outdoor work,  takes pride in doing things well, and wants to join us long term in growing our maple business.

The ideal candidate should be familiar with sugar bush management, maintaining and expanding sap lines and a vacuum pump, maintaining and operating a reverse osmosis unit and running an oil fired arch. Annual maintenance of the sugarbush normally begins in November or December, and the candidate must have a flexible schedule during sugaring, normally late January through April, in order to process and boil as the weather dictates.

We expect in the 2027 season that the job will require 200-300 hours during sugaring season and additional work during the Fall and early winter to prepare sap lines in the woods. There will also be additional opportunities during 2027 to expand the sugar bush.

Pay: $20 to $30 per hour, depending on experience.  For the right candidate this job includes possible profit sharing incentives based on production levels and long term opportunities to manage and grow the sugaring operation. The current operation has significant room for expansion.

  • Supporting forest health, long-term sugarbush resiliency, and good land stewardship.
  • Helping with packaging, cleaning, maintenance, and general production work as needed.

Experience Required –

  • Maple tubing systems installation or commercial sugaring operations
  • Knowledge of proper chainsaw use and safe woods work
